RESUMEN AND OPINIO LITTLE BRITAIN PEOPLE´S

Resumen:

Little Britain begins "In the centre of the great city of London lies a small neighborhood, consisting of a cluster of narrow streets and courts, of very venerable and debilitated houses, which goes by the name of LITTLE BRITAIN. Christ Church School and St. Bartholomew's Hospital bound it on the west; Smithfield and Long Lane on the north; Aldersgate Street, like an arm of the sea, divides it from the eastern part of the city; whilst the yawning gulf of Bull-and-Mouth Street separates it from Butcher Lane, and the regions of Newgate. Over this little territory, thus bounded and designated, the great dome of St. Paul's, swelling above the intervening houses of Paternoster Row, Amen Corner, and Ave Maria Lane, looks down with an air of motherly protection.

Little Britain seemed to me a very interesing and excellent text, since i urge you to want to read a little more about this neigborhood built before ruins in the great city of london, i also liked the different characters, since each one is different but unique

Not Irving's best
Basically this is an entertaining view of a neighborhood in London where the author lived at one time. He's a very good writer that's for sure. But this isn't really a story, thus the rating.

Irving's short memoir of his time in central London is an excellent window into nineteenth century urban middle class Britain as well as a fascinating travelogue. Irving's superiority as a writer is evident. His descriptions paint a vivid picture of the area around St Paul's, and the Britons he describe seem a charming example of a bygone era. His description of what might be called nineteenth century gentrification, however, is by far the work's greatest strength.

Thankfully short and free in Kindle edition. Whimsical interest as working in this street in the 21st century. Actually downloaded erroneously looking for another book!.
